A HYRAX telescopic boom lift is loaded with innovative features, discoveries, and choices. One of the secrets behind the ultimate performance of a HYRAX is the smart jib. This jib enables the HYRAX to reach higher and farther than all its counterparts. In this article, we share more about the jib.
Good to know:
The abbreviation jib stands for: “jointed arm boom”. Translated into Dutch a “swivel arm”.
What is the jib of a telescopic boom lift?
Firstly, what is the jib of a telescopic boom lift? A jib on a telescopic boom lift is an additional arm attached to the front/above the boom. You can see it as an extension to which the work basket is attached. This extension ensures that the telescopic boom lift has a greater reach and provides access to difficult-to-reach locations, such as building facades, treetops, or parts of structures.
With a jib, or rather thanks to the jib, you work more efficiently and are more flexible.
Different types of jibs
A telescopic boom lift can be equipped with a fixed jib or a rotating jib. Many crawler telescopic boom lifts are equipped with a fixed jib to which the work basket is attached. HYRAX crawler telescopic boom lifts are equipped with a rotating jib.
A fixed jib is, as the name suggests, a fixed arm on the boom to which the work basket is attached. With a fixed jib, the position of the work basket relative to the boom remains constant. In other words, all positions you want to reach from the work basket are achieved by operating the boom itself.
With a rotating jib, the arm of the telescopic boom lift rotates in relation to the boom. A telescopic boom lift with a rotating jib can easily and quickly reach certain places without having to operate the boom itself. More on the advantages of a rotating jib in the next paragraph.
The jib of HYRAX telescopic boom lifts
The HYRAX crawler telescopic boom lift is equipped with a rotating jib. This jib can rotate 180° in relation to the boom. This makes it very easy to reach places that you couldn’t reach with a fixed jib.
The smart jib on a HYRAX telescopic boom lift ensures that there is much more functionality in the telescopic boom lift. This provides optimal user convenience and flexibility during work. The jib of HYRAX telescopic boom lifts is relatively long and can rotate further than the jibs of many other telescopic boom lifts. This means that with a HYRAX, you can go further than with telescopic boom lifts with a shorter jib.
The benefits of 180° jib rotation
Unlike many other crawler telescopic boom lifts, the HYRAX is equipped with a 180° rotatable jib. We list the benefits for you:
- With a rotating jib, you can reach difficult-to-access places where you couldn’t reach with a fixed jib, e.g., above a protruding concrete floor, above a balcony, etc. Or think of reaching any position around a large branch during pruning. In short, thanks to the jib, you can bypass obstacles in the way.
- By rotating the jib in line with the boom, you can achieve a greater working height.
- Thanks to the rotating jib, you don’t necessarily have to operate the entire boom to change position.
- Because the jib on a HYRAX telescopic boom lift can rotate 180°, it is possible to make the telescopic boom lift very compact, minimizing transport dimensions. This makes it possible, among other things, to transport the HYRAX on a trailer.
The HYRAX in practice
Especially in the construction sector and in landscaping, a rotating jib offers significant advantages during work, but the smart jib also comes in handy in other sectors. With the HYRAX, work becomes not only more efficient but also safer.
Experience the HYRAX yourself
We can tell you everything about the HYRAX, but ultimately, you have to feel and experience it yourself. That’s why we’re happy to give you a personal demo at your location or ours. You are welcome in our factory, but we will also visit you on location.
